FAQs

How do I get started with accountancy training?

Check our Getting Started Guide for a step-by-step overview. You’ll need to register as a student with ACCA or CIMA, check if you qualify for exemptions, create a study plan, book a training course with FI/IFG, and register for your first exam. If you have any questions, our customer service team is happy to help.

What's the difference between ACCA and CIMA?

ACCA is for chartered accountants who specialise in financial reporting and audits, typically working externally. CIMA focuses on management accounting, financial strategy, and decision-making within businesses. If you want a global career in financial reporting, ACCA is the better choice. If you’re interested in business finance and management, CIMA may be more suitable.

How long do the courses take to complete?

Most students complete ACCA or CIMA within three to four years, depending on exemptions, study pace, and work commitments.

What are the entry requirements?

To start ACCA’s Applied Knowledge Level, you need at least 3 GCSEs (including English and Maths) and 2 A Levels. CIMA has no formal entry requirements, but beginners start with the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting. If you have a relevant degree, you may be eligible for exemptions in both qualifications.

Are ACCA and CIMA recognised internationally?

Yes, both qualifications are globally recognised. ACCA is widely accepted for financial reporting roles, while CIMA is the world’s largest professional body of management accountants.

Do the courses include exam fees?

No, exam fees are not included in course prices.

How do I book a course, and what if my employer is paying?

You can book a course online or download a booking form. If your employer is sponsoring your studies, you can pay with a company card or submit the booking form via email. Contact us if you need assistance.

Are ACCA exams on demand?

Some ACCA exams, like Applied Knowledge modules and Corporate and Business Law, are available on demand. Other exams are scheduled quarterly.
